Cream Cheese Frosting

This cream cheese frosting is the perfect topping for your cupcakes or cake! Add some Cool Whip for an extra creamy cream cheese frosting or leave it out for a thicker version! Either way, this homemade frosting recipe is easy and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter at room temperature (1 stick)
  • 1 brick (8 oz) cream cheese softened/room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon clear vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk can also use heavy whipping cream for great texture
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 1 cup COOL WHIP whipped topping thawed (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter, cream cheese, vanilla and milk  until light and fluffy. (This will take a couple of minutes.)
  2. Add in the sifted confectioners sugar. Beat until right consistency. (You may need to add more sifted confectioner's sugar or milk if you aren't getting the desired results.)
  3. Gently stir in Cool Whip frozen topping just until blended. Refrigerate leftovers.

Recipe Notes

This will frost one 9x13 inch cake or approximately 24 cupcakes.
