Pumpkins & Skulls Halloween Cereal Treats

Last weekend while I was digging through my cupboards, I bumped into an old (as in from last year) pan that I had forgotten was even there, the Wilton 6-Cavity Skull Pan. Since I had just picked up the Wilton Jack O Lantern Mini Cake Pan I thought these would be cute to pair up for some easy Halloween treats. While they are technically meant to bake mini cakes in, I knew they’d work perfectly for some shaped rice krispies treats.

Rice Krispies Cereal Treats Ingredients:

  • 5 TBS butter
  • 16 oz mini marshmallows
  • 9 cups Rice Krispies cereal

While you’re free to use your own cereal treats recipe, the one mentioned above makes just enough to fill all 12 cavities and they still hold their shape while maintaining a soft texture.

Simply spray each pan with a non-stick cooking spray and fill the cake pan cavities with the cereal treat mixture and press down to fill in all the gaps.

Let the treats sit in the pans for about an hour to firm up and you can pop them right out to decorate.

While you can decorate these anyway you like, I decided to whip up a batch of royal icing (medium consistency) to pipe an outline and faces on the treats.

You can serve them on a plate as is or turn them into cereal pops with lollipop sticks.

I would love to hear any fun ideas you have for Halloween cereal treats!

Oh what a great idea! I will now be making these for Johnny’s bday party too since I have both these pans! Oh I have some serious baking to do!

One question! How’d you get such a nice orange frosting? I tried and couldn’t get it bright for the life of me!
