I know I typically cover recipes on this blog but when I get asked to just try out some chocolate dipped strawberries from Fannie May, what is this girl to do?
Say no?
Absolutely not.
To turn down chocolate is just blasphemous anyway, but to turn down strawberries with chocolate is just wrong. Plus, I think you’ll be interested to know that these are seriously the best chocolate dipped berries I’ve ever tried. I’ve had them from plenty of places including shipped from Shari’s Berries and locally from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. And they were both very good. At first I wondered why these berries cost more than their competitors. I didn’t really think they could improve on any of the berries I’d had before.
But they did.
The size of the berries were all comparable in size. In fact, I didn’t find much of any fluctuation. I really appreciated this. Unless you are enjoying the strawberries for only yourself it actually matters when one strawberry is three times the size of another. I know as I’ve experience the negotiating before as to who would get the bigger sized berries.
And the berries themselves arrived in perfect condition. In the past my strawberries would arrive already bleeding some of their juices but that didn’t happen. In fact, these berries lasted longer than any other I’ve had. Which suggests their berries are fresher when they are dipped or they have a more efficient shipping process.
The chocolate itself is a great quality and heavenly as it melts in your mouth. I loved that this set was beyond the traditional milk or white chocolate. My favorite was the Trinidad with its wonderfully toasted coconut but the Mint Meltaway was a close second. All three were amazing.
The only downside to these berries is that the toasted coconut did end up on the Mint Meltaway berries during shipping. It wasn’t very noticeable flavor wise and could easily be wiped off but something to consider.
This would definitely make one very thoughtful and indulgent holiday gift for anyone on your list!

Yummmmmmmmmmm! I love chocolate covered strawberries but have never tried them from Fannie May, I’m going to have to put that on my to-do list!
