Aren’t these tea cookies beautiful? Whether you need the tea party cookies to serve with tea, or a tasty addition to your holiday dessert tray, these cookies from Allison Martinson are a great option! This cookie is pretty moist and dense and similar to Russian tea cookies or thumbprint cookies which are not super sweet and really smooth.

Tea cookies with chocolate chips and chocolate drizzle are the perfect addition to your holiday baking list! Much like a Russian tea cookie, these cookies are moist and dense. Serve them with your favorite tea or coffee!

Tea Cookies Ingredients

Only a few very basic ingredients are required to make these tea cookies. All you need is the following:

  • butter
  • powdered sugar
  • vanilla extract
  • flour
  • mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

All of these ingredients are pretty standard in any kitchen so any time is a good time to make chocolate chip tea cookies! If you need a cookie without eggs, this is a great option. This recipe makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.

How to Make Chocolate Chip Tea Cookies

This tea cookie recipe is pretty simple and this batter can be whipped up in only a few minutes.  Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mixing up tea cookie batter with stand mixer

In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar on high speed until fluffy. Add vanilla extract and mix well. Gradually beat in the flour.

Form into one inch balls. Place two inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.  These cookies were baked with a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. I recommend using parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for the best results and easy cleanup! Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.

Add remaining ¼ cup mini-chocolate chips to a ziploc bag and microwave just until melted, approximately 30 seconds. Snip a small corner of the bag and drizzle chocolate over cooled cookies. If you prefer to not use a plastic bag, you can also achieve this result by melting your chocolate in a small, microwave safe bowl. Drizzle chocolate over the top using a fork.

Chill 5 minutes or until chocolate is set.

That is all there is to making these chocolate chip tea cookies!
