Absolutely Amazing Apple Crisp from Kraft Foods

If you saw my Wordless Wednesday yesterday then you know that I’ve got a ton of fabulous apples from my apple tree that work great for baking. While they are still good to eat, they are a bit on the tart side which is why I knew they’d still be perfect for this “Just Like Mom’s Apple Crisp” from Kraft Foods which calls for Granny Smith.

I love really any apple crisp but what sets this recipe apart for me is the inclusion of graham crackers in the topping. The added flavor and texture gives that little something extra.  I simply can’t get enough of this amazing apple crisp. Obviously I’m not the only one since it gets 5 out of 5 stars with 140 reviews on Kraft. I do hope you try it and come back and tell me just how much you loved it as well!

Ingredients

1/2 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
3 honey graham crackers, finely crushed
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup walnut pieces
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted (please say you’ll use butter!)
1 tsp. cinnamon, divided
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
6 cups peeled Granny Smith or other tart apple variety apple slices (about 5 medium apples)

Directions

Crush graham crackers and mix with oats,  1/3 cup each of the brown sugar and flour, the walnuts, butter and 1/2 tsp. of the cinnamon until well blended then set aside.

In a large bowl add 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 Tbsp. flour and remaining 1/2 tsp. cinnamon then toss apples in and coat.

Place in 8-inch square baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.

Sprinkle with oat topping.

Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 min. or until apples are tender. Cool slightly before serving. Tastes delicious with a scoop of ice cream!

This was very slightly adapted from KraftRecipes.com.

    Hi Emilie,
This is one of my favourite blogs…but now, I am on this new training diet and can have no sugar. How do you feel about making all your recipes with Spenda? No? Ok, I was just asking. I’ll continue to creep through your blog and listen to my relentless hunger pains and ignore my sugar cravings! 🙂

I bet this is yummy. Wish I didn’t have to cut my apple tree down this year. It got diseased with something and was dying off and brittle. I wasn’t safe anymore. So down it came.

Okay I was going to wait to get back to baking but I LOVE Apple Crisp. I’ll have to test this one out. What did you use to slice your apples. I can’t find the stand to my slicer ERR
