While I love a formal table for dinner, especially at the holidays, it isn’t always practical for our lifestyle. A tablecloths feel a bit dangerous with a 21 month old. And if there is one day out of the year that I just want to relax and enjoy time with my family, it is on Christmas. That means I don’t want to spent a ton of time setting up the perfect table for us to eat. Instead, I want to create something that can be set up in just a few minutes on the big day and cleaned up just as easily. This is quite easy to do with some help from ProFlowers.
With a Trio of Holiday Cypress Trees, I’ve managed to tie my living room and dining room together. I have placed two of the trees on my mantle and have the third as a centerpiece on my table. It is simple and isn’t too large. I like that it is easy to talk to those on the other side of the table and leaves plenty of space for food on the table. Plus, it can be used well after the holidays and planted in the spring outside if you have a mild or warm climate.
I love the smells with the holidays. The tree gives off an evergreen scent while these cinnamon sticks add a bit of sweetness in the air. I tied them with some ribbon and paired them with some fresh cranberries in a small decorative pitcher.
Using the leftover vase from my Thankgiving tablescape, I added some pine cones from my yard and a colorful pick from my local craft store for color. I love that it is shorter and won’t distract from conversation at the dinner table.
I made my napkin and silverware place settings very simple. By putting my silverware on the cloth napkin and tying with some ribbon, I can have them ready ahead of time. I’m not worried about it being too informal as I’m trying to create a casual and comfortable environment. I even placed mix-matched glasses on the table, just to shake it up a bit.
For my buffet, I received a gorgeous holiday flower bouquet and some fresh organic fruit, perfect for snacking on.
I broke the bouquet up into smaller bouquets made with mason jars, ribbon and fresh cranberries.
This allowed me to decorate my entire dining room and continued my casual theme. (Note: The Peruvian lilies in this bouquet bothered my allergies so I excluded them from my arrangement.)
The fresh organic fruit arrived well-protected in a nice box. I transferred them into a basket I had on hand so they could be displayed.
The mango had an amazing flavor and was perfectly ripe. It a favorite fruit of my oldest son and I so it didn’t last long. The apples were sweet and crisp. I can’t wait for the pears to fully ripen so we can try them!
Throughout my house I have so many seasonal touches added, thanks to ProFlowers and Red Envelope. This personalized Countdown to Christmas chalkboard art is a favorite of my kids. They love counting down the days until Christmas and it looks great on my dining room wall.
This Candy Cane Christmas Cactus works perfectly on our built-in shelf. I love the multiple colors colors and the fact I can keep this plant for years to come!
