Wordless Wednesday – Red Carpet Cupcakes

This week Emilie and I set out to create our very own twist on cupcakes for the Duncan Hines Red Carpet Cupcake Challenge. While we couldn’t enter them all in the competition, here is what our creative juices came up with.

Amaretto Stone Sour Cupcake

Based on the classic Amaretto Stone Sour drink, the cupcake is infused with orange juice with an Amaretto liqueur buttercream with a hint of sweet and sour mix and garnished with a maraschino cherry.

(VOTE FOR THIS CUPCAKE and see the recipe)

Mandarin Orange Cupcake

With a similar cake base as the first, this one takes the orange to a new level with an orange buttercream and mandarin orange garnish.

Lemon Cream Cheese Cupcake

Using a lemon cake mix with lemonade, this cupcake is topped with a decadent lemon cream cheese frosting.  It is best served cold for the full cream cheese experience and is garnished with blueberries and lemon peel.
